Watch the sunrise from this newly remodeled, 3 bedroom/2 bath home on Big Monon Bay in Monticello, Indiana, with Lake Shafer access close by. This is in a quiet area, No Wake Zone, deep water swimming, and great fishing opportunities. Ideal for canoeing and kayaking. A boat ramp is just across the way. Every bedroom has sliding glass doors to a furnished deck area!

A canoe is provided for our guests only! A canoe, 2 oars & some life jackets are available to our guests. There is NO EXTRA CHARGE for this. Use EXTREME caution and all safety rules when canoeing.

Besides TV and Cable, there is Wireless Internet access, and a fax machine. There are three covered and lighted boat slips with lifts (one rigged for a pontoon boat) and three furnished decks, one of which is over the water. The master bedroom, living room, and kitchen all have a panoramic view of the bay. Sliding glass doors from master bedroom and kitchen allow access to large deck area. A growing collection of books, movies and games are provided. If you are looking for all the amenities and benefits that a well-equipped, attractive, private home on the water can give you, this is the vacation home for you!

Special Notes: Water depth varies from 5 feet at the seawall to 12 feet at the end of the docks to about 20 feet in the middle of the old river channel. Sandy swimming areas are readily accessible by boat on Lake Shafer and by both boat and automobile at the famous Indiana Beach Amusement Park, which maintains a designated beach and water park about two mile from BayView Cottage.

Access from BayView Cottage docks to Lake Shafer is under the Monon Bay bridge about 1/8th mile from the cottage. Clearance under the bridge is 48 inches, which is adequate for most deck boats, runabouts, and fishing boats, and some pontoon boats (some pontoons will not fit). Big boats that will not pass under the bridge can be moored at rental boat slips on Lake Shafer or operated only in Monon Bay and on the Monon river, which extends for several miles and is all designated as a No Wake Area.

Check-in time will begin after 4:00 p.m. Check-out time is at 10:00 a.m. Late check-outs may be arranged only on the date of departure and are strictly based on availability. Late check-outs will incur additional charges.

Advanced Deposits
We take a $300 Refundable Damage Deposit/Reservation Hold. This is returned to you within 4 - 10 days of your departure date provided nothing is missing or damaged. Your Deposit is due at the time you fill out your Rental Form in order to hold your desired time frame. The rental fee is due at least 30 days prior to your arrival date. We accept checks or credit card. You can save a little by paying with checks to avoid the credit card processing fees.

Standard Cancellation & Change Policy
Cancellations. Reservations less than twenty-eight (28) days in length require a thirty (30) day cancellation or change notice. Cancellations and changes that are made more than thirty (30) days prior to the check-in date will result in the refund of the advance deposit less a $40 cancellation fee. Cancellations and changes that are made within thirty (30) days of the check-in date will forfeit full security deposit. Monthly reservations of twenty-eight (28) days or longer require a one hundred twenty (120) day cancellation or change notice. Cancellations and changes that are made more than one hundred twenty (120) days prior to the check-in date will result in the refund of the security deposit less a $40 cancellation fee. Cancellations and changes that are made within one hundred twenty (120) days of the check-in date forfeit the full security deposit.

Pat said, We really did enjoy your house. You certainly tried to provide everything we would need. The dock, the canoe and the decks are outstanding. What beautiful views! ( But where were the fish?) The younger 2 liked the yard a lot and your deer.
We usually go to Hilton Head, The Outer Banks, or Destin so this was a totally different experience. It was a lot more casual than usual which was nice.
The closeness of Monticello... would make long weekends possible... I'll get back with some photos.
